Hot Dog Stand
Attribution: Nicholas Hanson, author of The Ultimate Improv Book
Select one performer to be the hot dog vendor. Select five other performers to line up in order to enter as passersby. Select a characteristic (i.e. greedy) for the vendor. Each passerby, in turn, must enter, interact with the hot dog vendor and feed or endow the vendor with the chosen characteristic. Repeat with new characteristics and a new vendor.
This activity is best when:
the interaction is brief (30-45 seconds); the vendor remains neutral until fed/endowed; the passersby make strong character choices;
Variations:
Set up an information booth instead of a hot dog stand; give character traits to all characters.
