I’m working with some grade 10 students in Toronto this month and for scene starters asked them to write down some things that they’ve observed, either conversations they overheard or images that stuck in their mind. Here are a few of them that I found interesting:
IMAGES:
A man playing violin. He is blind.
Some girl tripping on her laces
A man fell down on his bike
a man wearing only underwear creeps down the street
Birthday cake in an old folks home
Boy pulls rat from his pants
A man chased by a kid
Modeling audition
Hug a garbage can
A man walking on the highway with only one shoe
Bird flying in circles
Man with snake around neck, in public
Hundred years old man, still very strong
Overheard two people talking about having sex
Magic trick
Old man crying outside the jail
QUOTES:
“I didn’t cheat”
“You over-ran my country”
“Where’s Mom, should we go look for her?”
“Can he get charged?”
“Insanity is SUPER sanity”
“If God is good, why did He permit evil?”
“You are in control of your own life”
